Fingerprints
Reveals prints on objects and surfaces at the scene.
In the game
In Confessd, the fingerprint analysis examines an object or a surface at the scene: a door handle, a glass left on the table, the pane of a display case. Before you pay, you only see what will be examined, never the result. In a real lab, the examiner compares the patterns of the skin ridges, such as forks and ridge endings, with each suspect's prints on file. In the game, all that work becomes a short report written in a technical tone.
The report comes with a stamp: Positive, Negative or Inconclusive. When something turns up, it becomes a new entry in your Clues, and that clue unlocks a new question or gives weight to one you could already ask. A print can place someone in a room they swore they never entered, or clear an innocent person who looked far too suspicious. What it won't do is name the culprit or hand you the evidence that closes the case: that is still the interrogation's job.
The analysis costs between 5 and 50 coins, depending on the case, and the purchase lasts for the current game. Within the same game you never pay twice: the report stays saved and you can reread it whenever you like. If you lose the case and start over, the analysis is charged again. It also doesn't count toward the question limit, so it can be the shortcut that saves you a question and improves your score on the leaderboard. The report's clock only starts after the minigame: it comes out after a short wait, and you can rush it for 5 coins.

How the minigame works

The glass starts out dark, and somewhere on it, hidden, is the fingerprint. Run your finger or mouse over the surface as if it were the brush: wherever it passes, the powder settles and the pattern starts to appear.

Follow the lines as they show up and uncover the whole print. The bar at the top fills as the pattern is revealed. If a few seconds go by without finding anything, the print gently flashes three times where it is, so you don't get lost.

Once almost the whole print is visible, the analysis ends on its own: the discovery sound plays, the complete pattern stays on screen for a moment and the report opens right after, with the result stamp.
