Sabrina Oddone

Logistics coordinator at Scuderia Ardesia, 33

Sabrina Oddone is 33 and coordinates the team's logistics, among trucks, pallets and spreadsheets. Born in Modena, the daughter of a truck driver and a seamstress, she spent her childhood watching her father check cargo with a flashlight in his mouth. She studied business administration at night, worked at a freight company and arrived at the factory at 27, with the promise that one day she would see a race up close. Quick and practical, she settles in minutes what others settle in meetings.

She lives in a one-bedroom apartment on the north edge of Turin, with a balcony overlooking a freight company's yard and the lights of the trucks leaving at night. The fridge is covered in magnets from cities she hasn't visited yet, and the hallway always has a pair of running shoes ready. She runs six kilometers in the morning and says it's the only hour of the day when nobody asks her where a pallet is.

She is short and agile, with a round freckled face and auburn hair in a high ponytail. She wears an orange reflective vest over the team's slate-gray jacket, carries a clipboard under her arm, a pen stuck in her ponytail and worn running shoes. She speaks fast, with the clipped Italian of the north, and counts on her fingers everything she has to dispatch before noon.

About her work, her account is pure logistics: her job is tires and bolts, not secrets, and race week is always madness, with fourteen crates, two cars and a spare engine. The cargo gate has no guard on Sundays, and the gate camera has been broken since March, and she has asked for it to be fixed three times. With the factory full of gatehouses and terminals open to eighty people, nobody can say for certain who touched which paper.

Sabrina knows the coordinator who ships every crate is the first person asked what went out the gate. When the detective says she passed the dossier to the English, her voice turns sharp and she retorts that if he wants a culprit, he should look for someone who understands what is written on those pages. It could be the honor of an employee who handles everything and is the first to be pointed at. It could be someone dodging for reasons that aren't technical. The detective will have to decide which.
