Lauragais, southern France, Friday, February 8, 7 am. Salaisons Delsol, a processor that sells frozen minced meat to ready-meal factories across half of Europe.
On Thursday a British lab tested a "beef" lasagne from the Bonne Table brand, made in Luxembourg with Delsol's batch 4712. The result came in overnight: there was no beef in that meat.
The fraud inspectors arrive at 10 am, and thousands of lasagnes are already being pulled from the shelves.
Three people handled that batch inside the factory. One of them knew from the start what was in the boxes.
Glass-walled meeting room of a meat processor, the production line stopped beyond.
