Cases unlock in order, like levels. This is case 169 of 200.
São Paulo, Tuesday, December 12, 1989, 11 pm, five days before the runoff election. Yesterday, at 8:02 am, on Rua Groenlândia in Jardim Europa, a white ambulance cut off the sedan of Heitor Vasconcellos, 53, owner of the Magazine Alvorada department stores.
A man in a military police uniform dragged the businessman into the ambulance, which sped off with its siren on. At 2 pm, a voice with an accent demanded twenty million dollars from the family.
Today at 6 am the van turned up abandoned on a vacant lot in Saúde, with an oil-change sticker from a Vila Mariana repair shop on the window. The kidnappers knew the exact street and the exact minute he would pass.
Three people are in your office. One of them gave away the businessman's route, and somewhere in a hole in this city he is counting the hours.
