San Diego Bay, Monday, November 17, 1924, 8:00 am. On the anchored yacht Silver Gull, film producer Leland Sorensen, who turned 44 yesterday, was found dead at 2:00 am at the foot of the bow stairs.
The yacht owner's people sent word that it was indigestion and wanted to carry him ashore on a stretcher. The harbor doctor found a bullet behind his left ear.
Sorensen wore a camel-hair coat and a white yachting cap that were not his. His wallet and gold watch were in his pocket. It was not a robbery.
Three people spent the night aboard and are in this salon. One of them knows why he died in another man's clothes.
