Auckland harbour, New Zealand, July 1985, Thursday, 9 am. On Wednesday night the Green Tide, ship of the environmental group Living Sea, sank at the quay after two explosions in the hull.
The first blast came at 11:38 pm and cleared the deck. The second, four minutes later, caught Joost Verhagen, the group's photographer, who had gone back to his cabin.
Police divers found the hull torn open in two places, from the outside, below the waterline. Someone dived off the quay to attach the charges.
Three people were brought to the harbour station. One of them knows who went down to the hull.
A harbor police office, with a fogged window onto the quay and bay charts pinned to the wall.
