Hotel Haddad, on the edge of the Wadi Musa desert, twenty minutes from Petra, 6:10 am. Tariq Nasser, a tour guide, was found dead at the bottom of the small canyon behind the hotel.
He fell from a ledge of rose-colored rock, some eight meters above the dry riverbed, between 11:30 pm and 11:45 pm. It looked like an accident: a narrow trail, a moonless night. But Tariq had walked that canyon since he was a boy.
The hotel is isolated, and only three people were awake at that hour. One of them lied about where they spent the night.
