Milan, Monday, March 27, 1995, 11 am. At 8:30 am, Lorenzo Brancati, 46, heir to the Brancati fashion house, was shot four times on the marble steps of his office building.
A man in a cap walked in behind him, fired without hurry, wounded the doorman in the arm and fled in a green car waiting with its engine running.
The briefcase, the watch and the wallet were left with the victim. It was not a robbery: someone paid for those four shots.
Three people knew Lorenzo's routine well. One of them knew exactly what time he would climb those stairs.
