Stockholm City Hall, Sweden, banquet of the Nordstjärna Prize in Chemistry, 10:35 pm. The laureate, Dr. Margit Ekberg, 52, collapsed at the lectern in the middle of her speech.
At 10:12 pm she drank from the glass of lemon water left in the speakers' room, behind the stage. At 10:20 pm she fell. She was rushed to the hospital in critical condition: poisoning.
Only three people went near that glass between 9:55 pm and 10:10 pm. One of them put something in it.
City Hall meeting room, gilded chairs, the echo of the orchestra still drifting in from the hall.
