Naadam Festival, steppe south of Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, 2:32 pm. In the archery final, the bow of Ganbold, three-time champion, snapped on the first shot.
The horn tip struck his shoulder and face. He is in the medical tent, out of danger, but he won't shoot again this year.
At 1:00 pm the bow passed the judges' inspection and was kept in the bow tent during the lunch break, from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm.
Three people were near that tent during the break. One of them tampered with the bow.
The judges' tent, white felt on the walls, the festival drums muffled outside.
